This standard applies to an exterior coating of acrylic cellulose nitrate lacquer for protecting metal and composites such as carbon, fibre/epoxy fibreglass and aramid surfaces, particularly those of aircraft where resistance to di-ester lubricating oil is required.
The lacquer is designed primarily for application over a primer conforming to CAN/CGSB-1.158. However, it may be used over a primer conforming to MIL-P-23377. The lacquer shall not be applied directly over coatings conforming to CGSB standard 1-GP-121 or MIL-C-5541.
